Palm Beach Atlantic 2, Juniata 1

Huntingdon, Pa. ? An early second-half goal gave the Juniata College men?s soccer team a lead, but the Eagles were unable to hang on as Palm Beach Atlantic University scored a pair of unanswered goals to hand Juniata a 2-1 loss in Huntingdon Sunday afternoon. Juniata is now 3-8-1 while Palm Beach Atlantic upped its record to 3-4.

The two teams were scoreless through the first 45 minutes, though the visitors out-shot Juniata 10-0 in the first stanza. Mark Guthridge (DuBois/DuBois) made four saves in the first half to keep things knotted at zero.

The Eagles then struck first as Josh Cady (Malvern Prep./Frazer) found the back of the net for a team-leading seventh time and put Juniata in front 1-0. Kyle Dunn (Central Bucks East/Warrington) assisted on the goal which came in the 63rd minute.

The visitors would answer back later in the half as Miguel Lemming scored an unassisted tally to knot the score at one with slightly less than 15 minutes remaining in the match.

Then with just five minutes left in regulation, Lance Villio scored the game winner off an assist from Lemming to make the score 2-1.

Juniata would force Palm Beach Atlantic keeper Jonathan Frazier to make four saves to preserve the lead in the second half, but the Eagles could not break through for the equalizer.

Guthridge finished with seven saves in net for Juniata as the sophomore faced 20 shots in the match.

Juniata will get back into conference action on Wednesday when the Eagles travel to take on Messiah.
