Huntingdon, Pa. ? Coming into Wednesday night?s home game against Washington & Jefferson, the Juniata College men?s basketball team was allowing an average of 73 points per game in its home games. That number figures to go down a bit as the Eagles (3-7) limited the visiting Presidents (2-6) to 13 first-half points en route to an 81-58 non-conference victory.

Travis Boyd (Juniata Valley/Barree) scored 14 points to lead four Eagles in double figures. The junior forward also grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. Chris Jasiota (Oil City/Oil City) scored 13 while Aaron Chamberlain (Tussey Mountain/Wood) and Tommy McConnell (Bishop Guilfoyle/Hollidaysburg) both scored 11 points as Juniata blistered the nets by shooting 53 percent in the game?including 63 percent in the second half. Nick Hager (Franklin/Franklin) passed out four assists to pace the team.

Already leading 34-13 at the half, Juniata put the game away by opening the second half on a 15-2 run. Boyd, McConnell and Chamberlain each hit threes during the run which left the score at 49-17 with 16:25 remaining in the game. The Eagles would lead by 35 following a Brian Cannon (Fallston/Fallston, Md.) with 7:14 remaining?it?s largest lead of the game.

Jon Koch finished with a team-high nine points for the Presidents who battled to cut the lead to a second-half low of 23 at the end of the half. Chris Sheehan finished with four assists and four steals.

Juniata controlled the game in the first half with its defense, limiting the Presidents to 6-of-28 shooting in the first 20 minutes.

The Eagle land expanded to double figures with a basket from Jasiota at the 9:07 mark. Boyd followed with a three, and Juniata later closed the half on a 10-4 run to go into halftime leading by 21.

Juniata will be out of action until early January. The Eagles? next game will be January 5 at Thiel College.
