Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College women's volleyball player Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) has been selected as Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball player of the week for the third time this season. Kines helped Juniata earn five victories this past week to claim the seventh conference player of the week honor of her career.

Kines helped the Eagles claim a win over conference foe Moravian and then record four wins to claim the championship at the Green Terror Invitational at McDaniel College. Her best performance came in a semifinal victory over Colby College as she pounded out 19 kills with a .516 hitting percentage, while adding three aces and three blocks. She followed that up with 11 kills and just a single error in the championship match win over Seton Hill, while producing six blocks and three aces. Kines added nine kills apiece in wins over Gallaudet and Moravian while posting hitting percentages of .667 and .389 respectively in those contests. She finished with at least three aces in all five matches during the week, including five in a win over The College of Notre Dame. Her six-block effort against Seton Hill was her second-highest of the season, while she added five and four blocks against Moravian and Gallaudet respectively. For the week, she produced 5.68 points per game, while averaging 3.71 kills, 1.21 aces and 1.29 blocks per game.

With a month remaining in the regular season, Kines continues to provide a strong all-around game for the Eagles. She currently leads the team in kills, hitting percentage, blocks and serve aces. Her 295 kills give her an average of 4.15 kills per game, which is nearly half a kill more than her 2004 average. Her 11 kills against Seton Hill moved her past the 1,000-kill mark for her career as she now has totaled 1,002 career kills. She is also averaging more than a block per game and with her 82 blocks is16 away from moving into the Juniata top-10 in career blocks. Her 41 aces are already the most she has produced in a season.

With Kines leading the way Juniata is 23-1 in 2005 and currently ranked second in the most recent CSTV/American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 poll. The Eagles will take an 18-match winning streak into this weekend's "Wid" Guisler Invitational which is hosted by Juniata.
