Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior cross country standout Katey Glunt (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) has been selected as the 2005 MASCAC Women's Cross Country Scholar Athlete. The conference awards one senior in each sport for each season as its top scholar athlete based on success on the field and in the classroom. This is the first year the conference has selected seasonal scholar athletes for each sport.

Glunt capped one of the strongest women's cross country careers in Juniata history with an outstanding senior season in which she earned All-Region and All-Conference recognition. She was the top female finisher for the Eagles in all but one race this past fall, including a career-best fourth-place finish at the MAC Cross Country Championships. Her fourth-place effort helped Juniata finish third overall in the conference meet, matching the highest team finish in the program's history. Her top-five finish earned her first-team All-Conference honors. Glunt improved eight places at the conference meet from her junior and senior seasons. She then closed her senior campaign by earned All-Region recognition for the second time in her career with a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA Mid-East Regional. It was her first-ever top-25 finish in the regional, besting her 34th-place finish from her junior year. Glunt is the only female Juniata cross country runner to earn All-Region honors over the 13-year tenure of current Juniata cross country coach Jon Cutright.

Glunt has also been a standout in track and field for Juniata, where she holds the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and captures All-Conference honors in two events at the 2004 MAC Track and Field Championships.

In the classroom Glunt entered her senior year with a cumulative GPA of 3.91 on a 4.0 scale. She was selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team and is a five-time member of the MASCAC Academic Honor Roll. She has earned Dean's List recognition five times during her time at Juniata.
