Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College sophomore pitcher Jason Enoch (Hempfield/Landisville) has been selected as the Commonwealth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week for his efforts for the Eagles this past week. It is the second time that Enoch has claimed the weekly conference honor this season, and it is the sixth time this season that a Juniata baseball player has been selected as either the player, or pitcher of the week by the conference office.

Enoch helped pitch Juniata to a 4-3 victory in the second of the three-game series against Lebanon Valley. The sophomore hurler tossed nine innings, allowing just six hits and three runs, two earned in the contest. He fanned ten batters on the game, his season high. He followed up that performance by pitching five shutout innings as Juniata topped conference foe Albright College 8-0. Enoch scattered three hits over the five innings, and added three strikeouts, giving him 13 for the week. Overall he allowed just two earned runs in 14 innings of work on the week, giving him an ERA of 1.29.

After being named the Commonwealth Conference Co-Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Enoch has enjoyed even more success in his sophomore campaign. He leads the team and the conference with seven victories and has yet to lose a decision on the year. He ranks first among the Juniata starters with a 2.63 ERA on the season, which is nearly a run better than his mark from his freshman season. His ERA ranks second in the Commonwealth and he also leads the conference in batting average against as hitters this season have posted just a .223 average against him. Enoch's 54 strikeouts lead the Juniata team, and are second in the conference standings. He has pitched at least five innings in nine of his 10 starts, and has allowed three earned runs or less in eight of those starts. He has also struck out six or more hitters in six of his starts. Enoch has also piled up a pair of saves in two relief appearances on the year.

With Enoch playing a major role in the pitching staff, Juniata has secured its third-consecutive berth in the Commonwealth Conference postseason. Prior to its final regular season game Juniata boasts a record of 27-10-1 and the team finished the conference season with a 16-4-1 record. After closing the regular season against Mount Aloysius College on Monday, Juniata will begin competition at the Commonwealth Postseason on Thursday with an opening round game against Lebanon Valley.
