HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Todd Giddings, a hydrogeologist, will give a talk on "Watersheds and Land-Use Planning: The Spring Creek Story" at Juniata College at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26 in Room C-232 in Brumbaugh Academic Center on the Juniata campus.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Giddings, president of Todd Giddings Associates in State College, Pa., will talk about how careful management of the Spring Creek watershed has allowed the State College area to grow into a metropolitan area without harming the surrounding watershed. He will use an interdisciplinary approach to his lecture, incorporating hydrology, land-use planning, groundwater science and aquatic biology into his lecture.
Giddings earned a doctorate in hydrogeology from Penn State and is a certified professional geologist. Giddings focused most of his early professional research on the Spring Creek watershed and he continues to consult on area projects. "He is recognized as an expert of watershed issues in central Pennsylvania," says David Lehmann, associate professor of geology.
Giddings serves on numerous advisory boards, including the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association and the Spring Creek Watershed Community.
