Elizabethtown 6, Juniata 0 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s soccer team held Commonwealth rival Elizabethtown off the scoreboard for more than half of the first period, but a quick two-goal spurt from the home team sparked the Blue Jays offense as Elizabethtown handed the Eagles a 6-0 set-back Wednesday evening. Juniata is now 5-10 on the season and 0-5 in conference action, while Elizabethtown improves to 8-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. After a scoreless first 24 minutes, the home team broke through with its first goal as Brennan Reichenbach scored from an Owen Friedrich assist to make it 1-0 Elizabethtown at 24:13. The Blue Jays struck again just three minutes later with Mike McCabe finding the back of the net off a Mike Helsel pass to make the score 2-0. Helsel added a goal of his own in the 41st minute with Bryan Holt claiming the assist as Elizabethtown took a 3-0 lead into halftime. Juniata keeper Mark Guthridge (DuBois/DuBois) made five saves in goal over the first 45 minutes to help keep Juniata in the match. The Eagles had three shots in the first half, and then would add another three shots in the second half but could not get one past the Blue Jay keepers. Reichenbach got the scoring started for Elizabethtown in the second half as he scored five minutes into the second stanza, with McCabe earning the assist. Friedrich struck in the 56th minute with an unassisted goal that took the home team\'s lead to 5-0. The final score than came in the 71st minute with Dan Flaherty converting of McCabe\'s second assist to reach the final margin. Juniata\'s Brian Trinclisti (Lewistown/Lewistown) stopped five shots in goal in the second half. The Eagles\' Fred McNeal (Troy/Towanda) led Juniata\'s offense as he had three of the team\'s six shots. A.J. Fleischer made two saves over 70 minutes in goal for Elizabethtown, with Jeff Mullen stopping one shot over the final 20 minutes to secure the shutout. Juniata will be in action again on Saturday with a non-conference match at Case Western Reserve. ###
