Huntingdon, PA - Pete Lefresne, a 12-year veteran in the field of collegiate sports information, has been named sports information director at Juniata College, effective immediately. Lefresne, will oversee all communications activities for Eagle athletics, including public relations, content for the Juniata athletics Web site, and development of recruiting/media guides. \"Pete brings to Juniata a wealth of experience and applied knowledge,\" said Larry Bock, Juniata\'s athletics director. \"We\'re delighted to have somebody at Juniata College of his veteran stature in the sports information profession.\" Lefresne returns to sports information work after several years in university public relations and marketing, most recently at Laurentian University\'s Algoma University College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, and previously at the University of Maine at Machias. He was a member of the athletic media relations staff at the University of Maine from 1999 to 2004, including a stint as Maine\'s interim director of athletic media relations during the 2002-03 academic year. During his five years at Maine, Lefresne worked with Black Bear football, baseball, and men\'s ice hockey teams that advanced to the NCAA tournament, as well as NCAA women\'s basketball tournament qualifiers in 2000, under the guidance of current Duke University head coach Joanne P. McCallie, and 2004, when the team was coached by current Purdue University head coach Sharon Versyp. Lefresne also spent five years (1992-95, 1997-99) as an assistant SID at the Virginia Military Institute, and two years (1995-97) as director of athletic publications at Old Dominion University. At Old Dominion, Lefresne helped the athletic public relations office earn seven awards for excellence in publications from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and served as media relations contact for ODU\'s women\'s lacrosse program led by then-U.S. National team coach Sue Stahl. He also had a brief stint as sports information director at Norwich University in Vermont in 2004. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Lefresne is a 1993 graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., with a bachelor\'s degree in interdisciplinary studies, with a concentration in journalism, graphic design, and history. Lefresne began his duties at Juniata on July 5.
