ITHACA, N.Y. - The Juniata College women's volleyball team swept its opening matches at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational with three-game wins over Oneonta State and St. John Fisher, Friday night in Ithaca, N.Y. The Eagles (6-1, 0-0 Landmark) downed the Red Dragons from SUNY Oneonta 3-0 in the opener, 30-17, 30-14, and 30-25. Juniata closed out the night with a 3-0 win over the Cardinals, 30-13, 30-15, and 30-22. Junior Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) led the Eagle attack with 16 kills, while playing error-free volleyball over the six games. Junior Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) recorded 14 kills during the night. Junior Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) tallied five aces, Cassie Dickmann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) had three blocks, and sophmomore Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) logged 37 digs over the two matches. The top-ranked Eagles continue play in the Bomber Invitational on Saturday, when they will face the Rochester Institute of Technology and 20th-ranked New York University.
