BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's and women's track and field teams each came away with six top 10 finishes in a very competitive field at Moravian College's 2009 Greyhound Invitational, held Saturday at Bridegam Track and Calvo Field.

The Greyhound Invitational served as Juniata's final tune-up before the 2009 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which take place Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26, at Goucher College.

Freshman Kristyn Ginter (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) had Juniata's highest finish of the day on the women's side, with her fourth place effort in the javelin with a throw of 124-01.

In the other field events, sophomore Stephanie Varner (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) was seventh in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10-0. Freshman Erika Brown (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) was eighth in the high jump with a mark of 4-11

On the track, freshman Jessica Koenig (Milford, Del./Delaware Valley) was fifth in the 300m steeplechase, with a time of 12:41.57. Junior Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) was sixth in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.36. Junior Melissa Johnson (Colonia, N.J./John F. Kennedy) was eighth in the 400m hurdles with her time of 1:07.27, and she finished 21st in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.24 seconds.

Sophomore sprinter Courtney DeGemmis (Lansdale, Pa./Methacton) was 14th in the 400m dash, recording a time of 1:03.65.

Senior thrower Katie Tavenner (Oaks, Pa./Spring-Ford) had three finishes among the top 20, starting with her placement of 14th in the shot put with a mark of 32-10 ¼. She was 16th in the discus with a throw of 99-10, and was 18th in Friday's hammer throw competition with her effort of 116-09.

Newcomer Skylar Kulbacki (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) was 17th in the triple jump with a mark of 32-7 ¾.

The Juniata men's team was led by Dustin Drake (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) and Nik Klena (Franklin, Pa./Oil City), who each posted a fourth place finish. Drake was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 195-5, while Klena was fourth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:18.67.

Trailing Drake in the javelin was Kyle Mazur (Ogdensburg, N.J./Morris Catholic), who was ninth in the javelin with a mark of 179-03, while Kevin Donahue (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) was fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 10:19.68. Mazur also finished 12th in the shot put with his throw of 42-8.

Tripp Rudolph (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was seventh in the 800m run with a time of 1:56.03, and Nicholas Bauer (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) was 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 41-10 ½.

Among top 20 finishers for the men were Ryan Johnson (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood), who was 13th in Friday's hammer throw with an effort of 140-8, and Josh Cavender, with a mark of 39-7 in the shot put in 19th place.
