HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Two new staff members have joined the Juniata College Athletics Department, assisting in women's basketball and sports information.
Ramin Mazaheri (RAH-minh mah-zah-HAIR-ee) has been named Assistant Coach for the Juniata women's basketball program, while Dan Lauletta has been named Assistant Sports Information Director.
Mazaheri spent the last two seasons on the staff of Auburn University women's basketball coach Nell Fortner, where his responsibilities included assisting with film exchange and analyzing game film, assisting with scouting reports, managing the male practice players, and conducting individual player workouts. He has worked camps at both Auburn and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Mazaheri began his coaching career as an undergraduate, assisting with the Auburn High School 9th Grade Boys basketball team in 2004-05.
A 2007 graduate of Auburn with a bachelor's degree in adult education, Mazaheri received his Master's of Education from Auburn in 2009.
Lauletta arrives at Juniata from sister institution Elizabethtown College, where he spent the last two years as Sports Director of ECTV-40, E-town's community television station. In that capacity, Lauletta was responsible for developing story ideas, filming and editing highlighted athletic events, and creating sport packages for broadcast. He also served as play-by-play announcer for selected high school athletic broadcasts on WPDC-AM 1600, a sports radio station in Lancaster County, Pa.
A 2009 graduate of Elizabethtown with a bachelor's degree in mass communications, Lauletta was a four-year letterwinner on the Elizabethtown College baseball team. A relief pitcher for the Blue Jays, he was a member of Elizabethtown's Commonwealth Conference championship teams in 2006, 2007, and 2009, and served as a team captain during his senior season. Lauletta completed his career with an 8-6 record and two saves, and a 7.47 earned run average over 74.2 innings pitched with 44 strikeouts.
Both Mazaheri and Lauletta began their duties at Juniata College on August 1.
