ST. LOUIS -- Juniata College women's volleyball salvaged a 2-1 split out of its matches at Washington University's 2009 Teri Clemens Invitational, with a pair of wins over ranked opponents on Saturday at the Washington University Field House.

Juniata opened the day with a 3-2 win over sixth-ranked St. Thomas University (Minn.), by set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 17-25, 19-25, and 15-11.

Sophomore middle Amanda Schmidt (Boswell, Pa./North Star) amassed 14 kills with four total blocks, while junior middle Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) racked up 13 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Drew Barnhart (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) logged 12 kills.

Defensively, Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) covered the floor to make 30 digs, and served a pair of aces to help the Eagles offensively.

The Eagles wrapped up competition with a 3-0 win over 18th-ranked University of La Verne (Calif.), by set scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-22.

Barnhart paced the Eagles offensively with 13 kills and two service aces, while Paige Johnston (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Schmidt each contributed six kills. Ashley Schnader (Reinholds, Pa./Garden Spot) had a hand on six blocks for the Eagles. Sollenberger turned up 27 digs for the Eagles.

Juniata improved to 11-1 overall with the two victories on Saturday at the Teri Clemens Invitational, and Juniata's Larry Bock moved closer to the 1,200 career wins mark as the Eagles' head women's volleyball coach. Bock now has 1,193 career wins, with a pair of matches on tap for this week.

The Eagles return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 23, when they host no. 22 Haverford College at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
