BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's volleyball team opened the first of two Landmark Conference round robin weekends with 3-0 victories over Goucher College and Catholic University, Saturday afternoon at Moravian College.

Juniata downed the Gophers by set scores of 25-17, 25-13, and 25-19. The Eagles then closed out the day by upending Catholic, 25-21, 25-16, and 27-25.

Against Goucher, outside hitter Collin Wallace (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) paced the Eagles offensively with 12 kills on 21 swings for a .524 attack percentage. Freshman setter Shelby Cassell (Grantham, Pa./Mechanicsburg) ran a Juniata offense that put together a .315 team hitting percentage, and amassed 22 assists.

Three players recorded double-digit dig totals, led by Wallace with 15. Michelle Morchesky (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) had 14 digs and three service aces.

The Eagles got a bit more of a challenge from Catholic, which took Juniata into extra points in the third set.

Senior opposite Paige Johnston (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and middle Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) each had seven kills to pace the offense, with Noetzel contributing more points with four total blocks.

Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) set 22 assists for the Eagles, who hit just .121 for the match. Senior libero Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) turned up 14 digs defensively for the Eagles, with Johnston next among defensive leaders with eight digs.

Juniata (14-2, 2-0 Landmark) wraps up the first weekend of Landmark play on Sunday, when it faces the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 12:30 p.m.
