RADNOR, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's swimming opened its 2009-10 season on Saturday, taking on Cabrini College and Mansfield University in a tri-meet hosted at Cabrini's Dixon Center Pool. The Eagles dropped decisions to both opponents, falling to Cabrini 112-64, and to Mansfield, 120-42.

Sophomore Evan Beatty (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) posted Juniata's lone first place finish, winning the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 12:01.42. Beatty finished second in the 500 Freestyle event, recording a time of 5:57.63.

Newcomer Mel Bresnahan (Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield East) also turned in a pair of second place finishes, in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:15.38, and in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:07.24.

Another freshman, Kim Padula (Irmo, S.C./Irmo) logged a third place finish in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:14.41.

Juniata will return to the pool next Saturday, Oct. 24, when it travels to Millersville, Pa., to face Millersville University.
