HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College freshman Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) brought home two second place finishes at the Susquehanna University Orange and Maroon Classic on Saturday, earning her the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, released in a statement today.

Shaffer continues her impressive rookie season for the Eagles as she broke her own school record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.99 seconds. She broke her previous record by 0.01 second. She finished second out of 38 competitors in the event.

She also placed second in the women's high jump with a lead of 1.52 meters (4'11.75"). Her two second place finishes were the top finishes for the day on the women's team. Shaffer started the day off with a 13th place finish in the long jump. She jumped 4.52 meters (14'10"), farther than 23 other competitors.

It is the first time Shaffer has been named Player of the Week in her career and will look for a repeat performance when the team travels to the McElligott Invitational at Haverford College on Saturday, Jan. 30.
