HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Kevin O'Keefe's seventh inning single allowed Moravian College to take game one, 7-5, before defeating Juniata College in game two, 16-6, in the opening weekend of Landmark Conference baseball at Langdon-Goodale Field on Saturday afternoon.

Juniata took the lead in game one with two runs in the bottom of the second to open the scoring.

Cole Walters (Mt. Union, Pa./Mt. Union) laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Ian Thorne (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) and Greg Hoffman (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) to second and third, respectively.

Hoffman scored the game's first run as Russ Gray (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) grounded out to the shortstop. Evan Pappas (Potomac, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootten) singled home Thorne to give the Eagles the 2-0 advantage.

Moravian (4-4, 2-0) took their first lead of the game in the sixth inning, 5-4, as Brad Bodine scored with two outs off a single up the middle by Matt Pezzato. But Juniata responded with a run of their own in the sixth.

Kyle Saxman (York, Pa./York Surburban) singled home Pappas, who reached base by an arrant throw from the third baseman, to knot the score at 5-5 going into the last inning.

But it was Moravian who had the final answer with two runs in the top half of the seventh.

Tyler Clifford (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) pitched all seven innings for the Eagles, taking the loss. He struck out three Greyhounds, giving up one walk, and seven runs (five earned).

In game two, the Greyhounds jumped out to a large lead early, and coasted to the finish line. They put up eight runs in the first inning, adding seven in the third to give them the sweep.

Andrew Groninger (McAlisterville, Pa./East Juniata) threw three innings in relief, allowing one run on five hits.

Ben Sealy (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse Academy) pitched a scoreless, one-two-three inning in the seventh, in his first appearance on the season.

John Martinez (Mt. Union, Pa./Mt. Union) had four hits on the afternoon, while Thorne finished with three hits, all singles.

Juniata (1-12, 0-2) will finish the three game series with Moravian on Sunday, with a single nine-inning contest on Langdon-Goodale Field. First pitch it scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
