HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior outfielder Sarah Eckard (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Player of the Week, for the week ending April 4.

Eckard hit safely in all four Juniata games last week, leading the Eagles to a 3-1 mark. She had a pair of four-hit efforts and finished with 11 hits in 19 at bats for a .579 average. She also scored seven runs and drove in a pair for the week, and scored a pair of runs in the Landmark series against Drew University - including the game-winning run in the final game of the series. Eckard was 6-for-8 at the plate against the Rangers.

Eckard is batting .451 this season, and leads Juniata with 32 hits. Earlier this season, she became Juniata's all-time career hits leader after eclipsing the previous mark of 143 held by Tara Carl (2006-09).

Eckard is the second Juniata player to receive Landmark Softball Player of the Week honors this season; senior shortstop Stacy Nagy (Millerton, Pa./Troy) received the award back on March 15.

Juniata (12-7, 2-2 Landmark) is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 7, when it hosts Elizabethtown College at 3:00 p.m. at Weaver Park Field.
