Juniata Art Museum to Showcase Work of Four Students
(Posted April 12, 2010)
HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Four Juniata College students studying fine arts will display their work at the Juniata Museum of Art exhibition "Senior Capstone Show" which is on display from Thursday, April 22 to Sept. 4.
The exhibition in general focuses on the human body in some way, with the images affected by such issues as life and death, women, construction of realities and the relationship between the figure and the environment.
"The exhibit provides an opportunity to work independently to develop a significant body of work and how to think critically and communicate their ideas through visual expression."
Monika Malewska, assistant professor of art
There will be an opening reception for the exhibition at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 22, at the Juniata Museum of Art.
All four artists are enrolled in Juniata's new Studio Art POE, the college's equivalent of a major. The students also all have taken the Distinction Seminar and Capstone Course. According to Monika Malewska, assistant professor of art, the courses "provide an opportunity to work independently to develop a significant body of work and how to think critically and communicate their ideas through visual expression."

Ashley Bright, a senior from Spruce Creek, Pa., who specializes in painting.
Diahann Mosier, a senior from Huntingdon, also is a painter.
