HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's cross country team was tapped to finish third in the 2010 Landmark championship meet, according to preseason voting among the league's head coaches and sports information directors released Monday.

Juniata picked up 68 points in the voting, trailing Susquehanna University in first with 96 points and the University of Scranton in second place with 84 points.

Trailing the Eagles were Catholic University with 61 points, Moravian College with 58 points, Goucher College with 37 points, and Drew University with 23 points. The United States Merchant Marine Academy rounded out the poll with 21 points.

The Eagles finished third in last in the 2009 Landmark Conference meet, trailing the championship squad from Scranton and second-place Susquehanna. Juniata will be led this season by Jessica Koenig (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley), who finished ninth with a time of 25:28, and Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough), who was 21st with a time of 26:25. Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) was 22nd in a time of 26:28.

Juniata opens its 2010 season on September 4, when it competes in the Bucknell Opener in Lewisburg, Pa.
