HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The 2010 Juniata College Sports Hall of Fame induction class will feature two multi-year women's volleyball All-Americans, a field hockey standout who was a two-time All-Region honoree, and one of the most accomplished middle distance runners in school history.

Kristin Hershey '00 (women's volleyball), Carrie Zeller '00 (women's volleyball), Nina Mathers '97 (field hockey), and Denny Weidler '72 (cross country/track and field) will be inducted in the Juniata Sports Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010. The inductees will also be honored during halftime of that day's Juniata football game against Dickinson College.

One of the most accomplished middle hitters in Juniata women's volleyball history, Hershey earned AVCA First team All-America honors in 1997, 1998, and 1999. She completed her career ranked third among Juniata's all-time career kills leaders with 1,750, and was fourth among career blocks leaders with 379 following her four seasons in Blue and Gold. Academically, Kristin earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District honors during both her junior and senior seasons, and became the fourth Juniata student-athlete to earn a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

An outside hitter for the Eagles, Zeller was arguably one of the finest all-around women's volleyball players to ever wear a Juniata uniform. An AVCA First team All-America selection in 1998 and 1999, Carrie completed her career with 1,611 kills - fifth among Juniata's all-time leaders. With all her offense, it was her defensive ability that became her biggest contribution to Juniata women's volleyball. She tallied 2,453 digs over her four years, setting a career record that stood for ten years. Zeller was the recipient of the Charles Bargerstock '47 Memorial Award in 2000, as the senior female student-athlete who had made the greatest contribution to Juniata Athletics.

A three-time First team All-Conference selection, Mathers was one of the most productive and honored players in the history of Juniata field hockey. She was Juniata's all-time leader in career assists with 34 at the time of her graduation, and ranked fifth at that time in career goals with 24. Her 78 career points ranked her third among Juniata's all-time leaders in that category. A two-time NFHCA All-Region selection as a sophomore and senior, Mathers was selected for the NFHCA Division III North/South All-Star game as a senior.

Weidler was Juniata's preeminent middle distance runner of the late 60s and early 70s, and ranked among the top runners in the Middle Atlantic Conference. He finished fifth in both the 1970 and 1971 MAC Cross Country Championship, at a time when the championship meet included runners from as many as 16 schools. On the track, Weidler placed second in the mile at the 1972 MAC Track and Field Championships, and won the mile at the 1972 MAC Indoor championship in a meet record time of 4:21.7. He continued to run competitively after graduation, placing 14th at the 1974 United States Track and Field Federation Open Marathon with a time of 2:48, and completing the 1975 Boston Marathon in two hours and 44 minutes.

Details of the 2010 Juniata College Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on November 6 are still being finalized, but will be announced at a later date.
