HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College controlled the court to defeat Washington and Jefferson 7-2 in women's tennis on Friday afternoon on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts.

For no. 1 doubles, Junior Katie Healy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and freshman Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) started the evening with a 8-6 win. Senior Lauren Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and sophomore Stacie Beegle (Schellsburg, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) teamed up to post an 8-3 victory for no. 2 doubles. Sophomore Rachel Adams (McLean, Va./Jakarta International School) and Senior Laura Gregory (Morrisonville, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) also came out on top with a final score of 8-2.

Healy was bumped up to no. 1 singles and knocked off Kelsey Fox, posting a 6-3, 6-3 win. Phillips couldn't match the President's Alyssa Tousignant who recorded a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 lead. Beegle defeated Kathryn Mioduszewski in two games, 6-2, 6-3. Perow also took on Rachel Detts in two games, 6-0, 6-1. Adams was defeated by the President's Carrie Campbell, falling 6-2 and 6-3. Also in singles, Gregory swept Valerie Mahoney in a quick 6-2, 6-1 win.

Juniata remains at home for another match this Sunday, Oct. 3, when it hosts Lebanon Valley College at 3:30 p.m. on the Raffensperger Courts.
