HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The combination of Kim Amrod's (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) goal to tie Alvernia College and Jacqueline Hoozemans (Delgauw, The Netherlands/Stanislaus College) flawless game-winning goal was what Juniata College field hockey needed to win 2-1 Tuesday afternoon at Winton Hill Field.

The Crusaders' Lauren Guido found the back of the cage first off an assist from Kyle Dillman 14 minutes into the match. The Eagles finally caught up when Caroline Phillips (Wilmington, Del./Concord) connected with Amrod to respond in the 26th minute. Hoozeman's goal was an absolute blast from just inside the circle into the opposite corner of the cage to secure the 2-1 lead for the Eagles.

Phillips, Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro), and Caitlyn Bowman (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown) each had three shots on goal this afternoon.

Juniata goalie Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) tallied one save on Alvernia's six shots on goal. Juniata had 18 shots on Alvernia goalie, Abby Eby who made five saves and was charged with the two goals allowed.

Alvernia had a 13-9 advantage in penalty corners.

Juniata returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 16, when it hosts Landmark Conference opponent Drew University at 1:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
