HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College field hockey has been named the recipient of a 2010 Division III National Academic Team Award by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), it was announced Tuesday.

Juniata was one of 83 Division III programs to receive the distinction, which is presented by the NFHCA to all programs with a team grade points average of 3.00 or higher.

The Eagles finished their 2010 season with an 18-5 overall record, with a perfect 6-0 mark in Landmark Conference matches. Juniata advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, after upending the College of Wooster, 3-0, in a first round matchup.

The 2010 season marked Juniata's fourth straight Landmark Conference title, and fifth NCAA tournament appearance over the last seven seasons.
