HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College's women's soccer team was selected to finish fourth this upcoming season by Landmark Conference coaches and sports information directors announced Tuesday.

The Eagles captured 35 points to earn their fourth place spot, narrowly missing a 39 point third place held by Catholic University.

A first place tie went the defending Landmark Champions, The University of Scranton and Drew University. Both teams tallied 56 points, marking the first time in Landmark Conference history that two teams tied for the top spot in a preseason poll.

Moravian College (33 points), Susquehanna University (18 points), and Goucher College (15 points) round out the preseason poll.

The Eagles ended the 2010-11 season with a 9-8-1 record and third place Landmark Conference finish. Juniata returns 18 to Winton Hill Field and certainly looks to senior defender and former Landmark Defensive Player of the Week Nikki Hankinson (New Baltimore, Pa./Berlin Brothersvalley) for defensive leadership. Rising sophomore Alicia Snyder (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon), one of only two freshmen to earn All-Conference honors last season, also looks to lead the Eagles to their fourth Landmark tournament appearance in the past five years.

Juniata begins its 2011 season on September 2 at Pitt-Greensburg.
