HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. -- Two Juniata College goals over the final five minutes of the first half helped propel the 19th-ranked Eagles to a 4-2 win over Wesley College, Tuesday evening at Lower Dauphin High School in Hummelstown, Pa.

Juniata seniors Caitlyn Bowman (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown) and Kara Buda (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) each potted goals late in the opening frame, giving the Eagles a 4-1 lead at the intermission. Shauna Deschenes (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) and Meg McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) were credited with assists.

Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) got Juniata (5-2) on the board just under seven minutes into the contest, beating Wesley goalie Elizabeth Groom off an feed from Molly Snyder (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area).

Snyder also got credit for the help on Juniata's second goal of the game, scored by Deschenes with 16:10 remaining in the first half.

Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) played 55 minutes in the Juniata cage, and was not credited with a save. Freshman Shelby Miller (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) came on to finish out the final 15 minutes, and logged one save.

Groom recorded six saves for Wesley (5-3) in goal while playing the opening 35 minutes, while backup Amanda Hudson played the second half and tallied two saves. Juniata outshot Wesley, 19-6, and had a 12-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Juniata travels to Ewing, N.J., on Friday, Sept. 23, to face 10th-ranked The College of New Jersey. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
