BASEBALL (6-6, 1-2 Commonwealth): March 19 vs. Gettysburg; March 22 at Elizabethtown*.

Juniata played a trio of games this week, coming away with two wins and a loss. The Eagles topped Southern Virginia by a 10-5 count, and then split a double header with Pitt-Greensburg. Ryan O'Donnell (Lebanon/Lebanon) pitched six innings in earning the victory against Pitt-Greensburg. O'Donnell allowed three runs on four hits in six innings of work, while striking out six. Marc Frailey (Middletown/Middletown) led the Eagle offense in the double header, going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. David Saintz (Titusville/Titusville) and Jesse Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) each had three hits total in the double header. Against Southern Virginia, Zach Sternberg (McCaskey/Lancaster) led Juniata with three hits in four at bats while driving in three runs. Paul Berry (North Hagerstown, Hagerstown, Md.) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the win. Jayme Fye (Philipsburg/Philipsburg) earned his third win of the season by tossing seven innings and allowing only three runs on five hits. He struck out five on the game.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (9-6, 4-6 Commonwealth): March 18 vs. St. Francis*; March 21 at Eastern Mennonite; March 22 vs. Sacred Heart.

After almost a two-week break Juniata returned to the court with a 3-1 victory over conference opponent Princeton. It marked the second time this season that the Eagles have defeated the Division I Tigers. A tight match from the beginning, Juniata took game one 33-31, dropped game two 24-30, and then pulled out victories in games three and four 30-28 and 31-29 respectively. With nine wins, Juniata matches their win total from a season ago and are just one-win shy of matching their 2002 conference win total.

Men's Tennis (0-1, 0-1 Commonwealth): March 19 at Frostburg; March 22 at Goucher.

Juniata opened their season as they hosted Moravian and fell by a 5-2 score. Scott Noerr (Lewistown/Lewistown) picked up a win for Juniata at the number five singles position with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Freshman Jack Walfish (Spring-Ford/Royersford) earned a singles win in his first collegiate match, as he rallied after dropping the first set in a tie-breaker and won sets two and three 6-3, 6-1 respectively. Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) fought gamely at the number one singles spot before falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Dave Bullock (Central Bucks East/Jamison) and Osman Homurlu (Tarsus American School/Cresson) came the closest Juniata would come to a doubles win, as they fell 8-4 at the second doubles spot.
