Folk Artist Jonatha Brooke to Perform at Juniata College Artist Series

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Jonatha Brooke, a singer-songwriter with a series of acclaimed albums to her credit, will perform a concert as part of the Juniata College Artist Series at 8:15 p.m., Friday, March 28 in Rosenberger Auditoium in Oller Hall on the Juniata campus.

Jonatha Brooke began her musical career as the songwriting member of the Boston-based band The Story, perhaps best known for the album "The Angel in the House." The group also released the album "Grace in Gravity," which had been previously released on a small independent label.
She became a solo musical performer in 1995 with the release of the album "Plumb." Brooke's work has been compared to such influential singer-songwriters as Joni Mitchell and Rickie Lee Jones. She released the album "Ten Cent Wings" in the late '90s and followed up that effort with the 1999 release "Jonatha Brooke Live."
Brooke's latest album, "Steady Pull" features such songs as "Linger" and "How Deep is Your Love." One of her songs, "I'll Try" is featured on the soundtrack of the feature film "Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland." She also sings the song "Second Star to the Right" on the soundtrack.
A review in Billboard of Brooke's last album "Steady Pull" reads in part "Her latest composing complements her signature style with playful rock strutting and an undeniably seductive soul shuffle. The album is a blissful sonic marriage that's best displayed on the standout, single-worthy cuts "How Deep Is Your Love" -- with its rich blend of harmonies and hip-hop-flavored beats -- and the title track, an anthemic stomper."
