Huntingdon, PA ? After closing one of the most successful seasons in the program?s history, one of the team?s top players has earned another postseason honor. Juniata senior midfielder Jean Silvey (Red Lion/Airville) has been selected to the 2003 STX/NFHCA South Atlantic All-Region team. Silvey earned a spot on the All-Region second team.

Silvey closed her career by netting career high with nine goals during her senior campaign. She led the team with those nine goals, while ranking second in both assists and points. She dished out five assists on the season, the second-highest total of her career, good for 23 points. Those 23 points were also the second-highest total of her career. Silvey was selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North-South Senior All-Star game this season.

After being named the Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Silvey was named to the All-Conference first team following her junior and senior seasons.

Silvey started all but one game during her Juniata career, and racked up 22 goals and 19 assists during her four years on College Hill. She started her career with a bang, scoring four goals and adding four assists as a freshman for Juniata. After notching one goal and two assists as a sophomore, Silvey erupted for eight goals and eight assists during her junior campaign. Her 19 career assists ranks her third all-time in Juniata history in that category.

Not coincidentally Juniata enjoyed one of its finest seasons in school history in 2002, and then was even better during Silvey?s senior year. In 2002 Juniata posted a record of 13-8, setting a new program record for wins in a season. The record would last exactly one year as the Eagles earned a record of 15-8 during the 2003 season. The wins included a pair of triumphs over teams ranked in the STX/NFHCA poll. The season also saw Juniata earn a spot in the Commonwealth postseason for the first time since 1990 and then advance to the Commonwealth Championship match.
