4/10/04--Huntingdon, Pa.? The Juniata College men?s and women?s track and field team?s put together a pair of solid performances at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic Saturday afternoon in Lewisburg. The women saw another school record established and one record tied, while the men?s squad notched some top finishes as well.

For the women, the Eagles set a new program standard in the 4x400-meter relay as the team finished second in the event with a time of 4:03.12 which topped the previous record of 4:03.91 which was set last spring. Sophomore Meredith Troutman (Meyersdale/Meyersdale) put her name in the record books as she tied Juniata?s existing record in the 400-meter hurdles. Troutman placed fifth in the event, coming home in a time of 1:05.56 which tied the record which was established in 2000.

Kira Troutman (Line Mountain/Valley View) continued her string of strong performances as she placed first in the javelin with a throw of 131? 2?. Also with a strong showing was Stefanie Rynkewitz (Lewistown/Lewistown) who placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.59.

Carol Longnecker (Harrisonburg/Harrisonburg, Va.) placed seventh in the 3,000 for Juniata while her Eagle teammates Carla Kifer (Sheffield/Sheffield), Lia Bella (Morris Catholic/Rockaway, N.J.) and Meghan Fahy (Brandywine/Wilmington, De,) were right behind her in eighth, ninth and tenth place respectively. Christina Jones (Fallston/Bel Air, Md.) rounded out the top-10 finishes as she finished 10th in the 1,500.

For the men Adam Loser?s (Central York/York) jump of 6? 2? was good enough for a fourth-place finish which was tops on the men?s side. Chris Sheaffer (Central York/York) placed fourth in the third section of the 800 with Jason Freeman (Thornton/Thornton, Co.) and Jeremy Lampert (Portsmouth/Portsmouth, N.H.) right behind him.

Shawn Miller (Altoona/Altoona) cleared 13? in the pole vault which earned him eighth place rounding out the top finishes for the Eagle men.

Juniata will compete at the Messiah Invitational next weekend.
