Huntingdon, Pa. - Juniata softball player Allison D'Ambrosia (State College/Boalsburg) has been selected as a CoSIDA College Division Softball Academic All-American for her work on the field and in the classroom at Juniata. D'Ambrosia was tabbed as a second-team selection at the designated player after being selected as a first-team district honoree. The national team consists of 33 student-athletes, 11 on the first, second and third teams, with each team consisting of two pitchers, a catcher, four infielders, three outfielders and a designated player. The CoSIDA Academic All-America selections are chosen from the first-team All-District student-athletes from the eight CoSIDA districts.

D'Ambrosia becomes just the second softball player in school history to earn Academic All-America status, and the first since Jennifer Wade '88 received second-team honors in 1988. She is the second Juniata athlete to receive Academic All-American laurels, as junior football lineman P.J. Brown (Central Cambria/Ebensburg) was a second-team choice this fall. She was also one of two players chosen for the team from Commonwealth Conference schools.

D'Ambrosia was a consistent offensive force for Juniata during a season which concluded with her earning All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. She finished the season with a career high .357 batting average which ranked her second among the Juniata regulars. She ranked second on the team in hits with 30, and RBI with 18. She added a .452 slugging percentage and 38 total bases on the year and scored 11 runs. She hit safely in 20 of Juniata's 32 games, and recorded nine multi-hit outings. Her season also featured a nine-game hitting streak, during which she was 13-for-27 good for a .481 batting average.

In the classroom, D'Ambrosia entered the spring semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.64. She is a member of the National Biology Honor Society and has earned Dean's List status two semesters at Juniata.
