Marietta 4, Juniata 0

Altoona, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s soccer suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Marietta in the first round of the Penn State-Altoona Challenge Cup in Altoona Saturday afternoon. Juniata will move on to play in the consolation game of the tournament on Sunday. The Eagles are now 0-3-1 on the season.

Marietta scored a trio of second-half goals to expand on a one-goal lead and pull away from Juniata. Eagle keeper Lindsey Treon (Hollidaysburg/Duncansville) made six saves on the match while surrendering the four goals.

Marietta?s defense limited Juniata to just four shots, and two shots on goal.

Amy Lehosit put Marietta on the board with a goal just two minutes into the game. The Eagles would play Marietta nearly even until the start of the second half. Marietta would then blow the game open and Kylee Swaney scored three minutes into the second half. Then in the 68th minute Amanda Stewart scored the first of her two goals off an assist from Lehosit. Stewart capped the scoring just three minutes later with her second goal.

Heather McMinn (Indian Valley/Reedsville) recorded one of Juniata?s shots on goal in the game, while Sarah Lester (Thomas Jefferson/Jefferson Hills) and Rebecca Shoaf (Madison/Madison, N.J.) each recorded shots.
