Juniata 4, Pitt-Bradford 0

Bradford, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half to post a 4-0 non-conference victory over Pitt-Bradford Sunday afternoon in Bradford. Juniata brought its record to 6-8-1 with the win, while Pitt-Bradford fell to 1-10-1 with the loss.

Juniata controlled the play throughout, finishing with 31 shots in the match, and limiting the home team to just one shot at goal.

It took until the 18th minute for Juniata to break through but the Eagle found the back of the net at 17:48 with Rebecca Shoaf (Madison/Madison, N.J.) scoring the first tally. Sarah Lester (Thomas Jefferson/Jefferson Hills) and Nikki McLellan (Parkland/Lake Forest, Ca.) each assisted on the goal.

Juniata added its second goal with five minutes remaining in the first half. Lindsey Treon (Hollidaysburg/Duncansville) took a feed from Tara McMinn (Indian Valley/Reedsville) and beat the keeper to give Juniata a 2-0 lead.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Eagles extended the lead on an unassisted goal from Alicia Walsh (Latrobe/Latrobe). Finally Shoaf capped the scoring with her second goal at the 65:45 mark to give the Eagles their final margin. McLellan posted her second assist on the day on the final goal.

The two goals for Shoaf brought her season total to 12, adding to what was already the Juniata single-season record for goals.

Lisa Russo (Lakeland/Haskell, N.J.) played the first 45 minutes in goal for Juniata and made one save. Gloria-Ann Seel (Mainland/Northfield, N.J.) saw all the action in the second half in net for Juniata and helped preserve the shutout.

The Eagles return to action next Saturday as they play at conference opponent Lebanon Valley.
