Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College freshman forward Jess Winemiller (Dallastown/York) has been named to the MAC women's basketball honor roll for her efforts in a pair of games this past week. The conference office honors players of the week for both the Commonwealth and Freedom Conferences, and then chooses an additional three players for honor roll recognition.

Winemiller continued her strong first-year performance in a pair of Commonwealth contests for Juniata this past week. In the first outing she poured in 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field against Elizabethtown. She also added a season-high four assists, along with seven rebounds and six steals in the game. The six steals matched her season high. She then closed the week by scoring a team-high 17 points against conference foe Moravian. She grabbed six rebounds and recorded two steals against the Greyhounds. For the week she averaged 20 points, and 6.5 rebounds per game, while piling up eight steals and five assists. She hit 67-percent of her shots from the field on the week while playing 72 of a possible 80 minutes of action.

Winemiller has been a consistent force for Juniata throughout her freshman season. Fourteen games into the season she ranks first on the team in scoring with an average of 16.1 points per game. Her 6.3 rebounds per game also lead the team, and she has added a team-best 36 steals. She is shooting 51-percent from the field, which is also a team high and is hitting 41-percent of her three-point attempts. She has scored in double figures in 12 of her first 14 collegiate games and has raised her play in conference games as she is averaging 21.8 points and 6.7 rebounds against conference foes. Four times in her first season, Winemiller has scored 20 points or more, while adding a pair of double-digit rebound performances.

Juniata is 4-10 this season, and with 10 games remaining are just one win shy of matching its win total from a season ago. The Eagles will return to action Wednesday night as they host Susquehanna University for a Commonwealth Conference contest.
