Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior David Bullock (Central Bucks East/Jamison) has been named the Commonwealth Conference men's tennis player of the week for his efforts in helping Juniata to a victory this past week. This is the first conference honor the senior captain has claimed during his career.

Bullock played a critical role in helping Juniata to its first victory of the season as he earned wins in both singles and doubles competition. Competing at the number-three singles position, Bullock rallied from a one-set deficit to claim a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory. He then joined teammate Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) to earn an 8-5 victory at number-one doubles. The two victories helped Juniata posted a 5-4 victory over Penn State-Altoona, sending the Lions to their first loss of the season.

A four-year competitor for the men's tennis team, Bullock has gotten off to a fast start in 2005 as he is 2-0 in singles matches in Juniata's first two outings. Those singles wins improved his career singles mark to 12-14 overall. He is 1-1 in doubles action in 2005, which gives him a career record of 11-15 in doubles competition. Bullock has helped Juniata to four conference victories and seven overall victories since the sport was reinstated as a varsity sport at Juniata in his freshman season.

With Bullock providing strong play and veteran leadership, Juniata is off to a 1-1 start in 2005. Juniata will return to action on April 2 with a home conference match against Widener University.
