Altoona, Pa.? The Juniata College women?s tennis team hade made a habit of rebounding after tough losses in 2005, and that?s a trend that continued on Thursday as Juniata responded from a conference loss on Wednesday with a 7-2 win over Penn State-Altoona in Altoona. Juniata improved to 5-3 on the year.

The Eagles got things started by taking two of three doubles matches. Ashley Andrews (Altoona/Altoona) and Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) teamed for an 8-1 win at first doubles while Sarah Roby (Red Land/Lewisberry) and Ye Kyung Kwon (Cumberland Valley/Enola) earned an 8-3 win at the third doubles spot.

Juniata then earned all but one victory in the singles matches to complete the victory. Andrews claimed a win at first singles by a score of 6-2, 6-4. Weisser also earned another win as she posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory at second singles. Juniata?s third singles also proved victorious as Kwon earned a 6-1, 6-2 win. Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) added a 6-2, 6-3 win at fourth singles and Roby completed Juniata?s wins with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the fifth singles spot.

The Eagles get back into action on Saturday with a non-conference match against Lycoming.
