Susquehanna 4, Juniata 0

Selinsgrove, Pa. ? The Juniata College men?s soccer team was looking to get its conference season off on the right foot, but three first-half goals prevented that from happening as the Eagles suffered a 4-0 set-back to Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove Tuesday evening. Juniata dropped to 2-7 with the loss and 0-1 in the Commonwealth Conference while Susquehanna improved to 6-3 on the year and 1-1 in the conference.

Susquehanna?s Mike Keim struck with the first goal of the game just 13 minutes into the match to put the home team in front. Nate Snyder assisted on the goal as the home team took an early lead.

Juniata?s defense settled in, holding the Crusaders off the scoreboard until a four-minute stretch later in the first half. Mike Bobek scored an unassisted goal at the 29:24 mark to put Susquehanna in front 2-0 and then just four minutes later Snyder notched his first goal of the match off an assist from Mark Richter.

The Eagles had a pair of shots in the first half, and forced keeper Nick Hoover into one save as they tried to cut into the lead.

The Blue and Gold then added another pair of shots in the second half, again forcing one save from Hoover, but could not break through.

Susquehanna then added one more tally in the 75th minutes as Justin Hutchinson found the back of the net off an assist from Todd Peters.

Juniata keeper Tim Penrod (Moravia/Moravia, N.Y.) made three saves in the match to keep the Eagles close.

The Eagles get its second chance at a conference win on Saturday when they host Moravian.
