Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior men's soccer player Jeff Gehring (Exeter Township/Reading) has been selected for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Men's Soccer Team as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Gehring was one of 12 players picked for the District II first-team, and will now have his name go on the ballot for the national Academic All-America Team. The College Division District II Team consists of two teams, with 12 first-team members and 10 second-team honorees. The awards are given to athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom.

Gehring, who was a second-team Academic All-District selection as a junior, ranks as one of the most prolific offensive players in the history of the Juniata men's soccer program. A four-year starter, who appeared in 64 games during his career, he tallied 19 goals during that time. He also produced 10 assists, giving him a career point total of 48, which ranks him in the top-10 for career points at Juniata. Gehring earned All-Conference recognition as a sophomore when he scored a career-best eight goals, the 11th-highest single-season scoring mark in the program's history. He added four scores in both his freshman and junior season, and then found the back of the net three times in his senior season.

In the classroom Gehring earned a cumulative GPA of 3.918 over his first three years at Juniata, and is pursuing a degree in mathematics. He is a three-time member of the MASCAC Academic Honor Roll and displayed his leadership as a two-year captain for the Eagles.

Gehring helped Juniata to a 6-12-1 record in 2005, which included a strong 2-2-1 finish to the year. The Eagles won 19 matches and earned seven ties during his four-year career.

The members of CoSIDA by district vote on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. Student-athletes in the second year of eligibility of later and with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better and who are considered significant contributors to their team are eligible for nomination. The District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
