ALTOONA, Pa. ? A change in location did nothing to slow down the Juniata College men?s tennis team as the Eagles improved to 4-0 on the strength of a 5-2 victory over Waynesburg College Saturday afternoon in Altoona.

Weather forced the match to be moved from Juniata?s home court but it did not prevent the Eagles from coming within two wins of matching their victory total from the entire 2005 season.

Juniata picked up wins at four of the six singles wins and then earned wins in two of the three doubles matches to earn the single doubles point.

Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) got Juniata off on the right foot with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory at the first singles position. The Eagles then controlled the lower part of the singles ladder as they earned wins at the fourth, fifth and sixth spots. Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) was the winner at fourth singles by a 6-1, 6-1 score. Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at the fifth spot and Jonathan Cohen (Highland Regional/Hollywood, Fla.) wrapped up the win with a 6-1, 6-1 win at sixth singles.

In the doubles action, the team of Tom Nelson (State College/State College) and Robert Bowser (Dallastown/York) played their first match of the season and claimed an 8-2 win at second doubles. Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) and Jack Walfish (Spring-Ford/Royersford) wrapped up the doubles point with an 8-1 win at third doubles.

Juniata will be back in action on Monday with a non-conference match against Washington & Jefferson.
