WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. ? The Juniata College men?s tennis team rebounded from its first loss of the 2006 season in convincing fashion as the Eagles swept past non-conference foe Lycoming 7-0 in Williamsport Monday afternoon. Juniata improved its record to 10-1 on the season while Lycoming fell to 1-4.

Juniata swept all nine matches on the day, winning six singles competitions and all three doubles outings to snare the doubles point. It marked the fourth time this season that Juniata has not dropped a match on its way to a team victory.

Only one of the six singles matches was forced to a third set as Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) earned a 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 victory at first singles. The remainder of the singles matches were all decided in straight sets.

Jonathan Sknoer (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory for the Blue and Gold at second singles. Brian Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.) was a 7-6, 6-0 winner at third singles, while Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) claimed a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at the fourth singles position. The fifth and sixth singles matches went to Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) and Jonathan Cohen (Highland Regional/Hollywood, Fla.) respectively. Navarro claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win while Cohen notched a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

On the doubles courts, Juniata opened play with Eicher and Long notching an 8-1 victory at first doubles. The team of Robert Bowser (Dallastown/York) and Tom Nelson (State College/State College) were 8-4 winners at the second doubles spot, and Cohen and Jack Walfish (Spring-Ford/Royersford) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at the third doubles position.

Juniata gets back into conference action on Tuesday as the Eagles host Commonwealth foe Elizabethtown.
