HUNTINGDON, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s tennis team moved its record back above .500 and picked up its first conference win of the season in the process as the Eagles claimed a 7-2 win over visiting Albright College. The victory raised Juniata?s record to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Commonwealth play, while Albright is 1-4 on the year and 0-2 in the conference. Juniata got the match off on the right foot by sweeping the three doubles contests. Caroline Weisser (York Suburban/York) and Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) led the way with an 8-5 win at first doubles. Aggie Kwon (Cumberland Valley/Enola) and Amanda Fontana (Trinity/Mechanicsburg) were 8-2 winners at second doubles and Molly Coursey (Hanover/Westminster) and Liana James (Boulder/Boulder, Colo.) swept their way to an 8-0 victory at the third doubles position. From there, the Blue and Gold picked up four singles wins to secure the victory. Coursey continued her dominating day as she cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles. Ariel Otruba (Mansfield/Mansfield) picked up her first singles victory of the season as she notched a 6-2, 6-2 win at sixth singles. Weisser also secured a singles victory to go with her doubles triumph as she posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles. Wolenter matched her doubles partner by recording a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at third singles. The Eagles were a few points away from sweeping the entire match as the two singles contests that went against them both went to three sets. Both Fontana and Kwon earned wins in the first set before falling in the final two frames. Juniata returns to action with a non-conference match against Frostburg State on Monday. ###
