Juniata 3, Widener 0 Juniata 3, Albright 0 READING, Pa. â?? The Juniata College women\'s volleyball team played a rare Commonwealth Conference doubleheader Wednesday evening at Albright, but the results were far from rare as the Eagles earned 3-0 victories over Widener and Albright. The victories kept Juniata unbeaten on the season as the Eagles are now 19-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. Juniata earned the win over Widener in the opening match by game scores of 30-20, 30-9, 30-14 and then topped Albright in the nightcap 30-18, 30-17, 30-10. In the opener against the Pioneers the Eagles got a team high eight kills from Rachael Schatz (West Perry/Elliotsburg), while Stephanie Kines (Towson, Towson, Md.) and Michelle Morchesky (Hempfield/Greensburg) added six apiece. On the defensive side Meghan Sollenberger (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg) registered 19 digs for the contest, while Schatz and Kines had five and four blocks respectively. Jess Ritchey (Greencastle/Greencastle) dished out 40 assists in the match while Kristi Fitzsimmons (Diamond Ranch/Pomona,Calif.) and Amber Thomas (Conestoga Valley/Ephrata) served up two service aces each. The Eagles then went right back at it as they had to contend with Albright, but another solid all around performance for the Blue and Gold would lead to the clean sweep on the night. Thomas and Kines lead the team offensively as they pounded out ten and eight kills between them, while Jess Fox (Cocranton/Cocranton) contributed offensively with six kills. On the defensive side Ritchey and Sollenberger brought up 17 and eight ball to keep the Albright offense at bay. Ritchey also served up seven aces in the match to go along with her 44 assists. The Eagles return to action on Friday as they go on the road to face Easton University. ###
