SELINSGROVE, Pa. - On the first day of a two-meet weekend, the Juniata College men\'s and women\'s track teams got things off to a good start with some strong performances at the non-scored Susquehanna Invitational Friday evening. On the women\'s side, the Eagles did all their damage in the throwing events as three different competitors earned spots in the top six. Juniata dominated the weight throw, claiming three spots in the top six, led by Regina Diehl (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) who was second. Maggie Wolenter (Audubon/Audubon, N.J.) was right behind her in third place, while Katie Tavenner (Spring-Ford/Oaks) placed sixth. Tavenner added to that performance by enjoying a sixth-place finish in the shot put on the day. The men had a pair of top-six performances on the day, one coming in the sprints, the other coming in the jumping events. John West III (W.B. Saul/Philadelphia)enjoyed the top finish on the day as his time of 6.73 was good enough for a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash. Also placing in the top-6 on the day was Patrick Filamor (International School/Manila, Philippines) who leaped to a third-place finish in the long jump. The remainder of Juniata\'s team will be in action on Saturday as the Eagles compete at the Bucknell Winter Classic.
