WAGNER AND THOMAS EARN LANDMARK CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONORS HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College junior women's volleyball outside hitter Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and senior field hockey forward Kim Wagner (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) have been named Landmark Conference Players of the Week, for the week ending October 14. Thomas earned the Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honor for her performance while leading the Eagles to three wins over nationally-ranked opponents last weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational. She was named Tournament MVP after recording 11 or more kills and 10 or more digs in all four matches at the event, including 17-kill performances against #9 Carthage College and #5 UW-Oshkosh. She totaled 61 kills and 57 digs at the two-day tournament, and also tallied six blocks and four aces. The Eagles are currently 24-3 overall and ranked number one in the nation (new poll due out later Tuesday). Juniata also posted a 6-0 mark in conference play, and will be the top seed for the upcoming Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Championship, which starts October 31. Wagner was named Landmark Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals and assisting on two others while leading Juniata to three wins. She scored the first goal of the game and then assisted on Juniata's second goal in a 3-2 Landmark win over the University of Scranton on Saturday in Huntingdon. Earlier in the week, Wagner scored once and had an assist in a 2-0 win over Frostburg State, and found the back of the cage once in Juniata's 3-0 win over Oneonta State. The Eagle field hockey squad, currently ranked 13th in the nation, holds a 13-2 overall record, 4-1 in the Landmark Conference. -30-
