HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Catherine Chambers, formerly director of administrative affairs in research services at the University of Louisville, has been hired as Juniata College's director of digital communication.

Chambers' duties include overseeing the college's internal and external printing needs as well as Juniata's mailing system and office automation needs. She also supervises the college's Web design, graphic design and publications.

Chambers has an extensive background in university administration and printing and publishing services. She joined the University of Louisville in 1998, until leaving to relocate to Huntingdon in 2001. From 1997 to 1998 she worked as director of electronic publishing at Midland Communications in Louisville, Ky.

She started her career in university services at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. in 1986 as group leader for the university's word processing center. She was promoted three times, from assistant manager to director, before accepting a new job at the university as director of print services and the student post office from 1993 to 1997.

Chambers earned a bachelor's degree in organizational behavior from Covenant College in 1989 and earned an associate's degree in business technology from Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, Tenn. in 1984.

She received the University of the South's first annual Board of Regents Employee of the Year Award in 1995. The same year, Chamber's staff received the Board of regents Team Award. She has served on a variety of university and community committees while at the University of the South and University of Louisville.

She is a member of the Association of College and University Printers, American Association of Laboratory Animal Scientists and the Laboratory Animal Management Association. In past years, she has been a member of the International Publishing Management Association, Business and Professional Women/University of Louisville, Women of Higher Education in Tennessee and University Professional Women.

She is extensively involved in community activities, primarily as a volunteer, Sunday school teacher and lay reader at Episcopal churches where she has lived.
