MEN'S BASKETBALL (8-5, 1-3 Commonwealth): Jan. 16 at Albright; Jan. 19 at Moravian.
On Tuesday night, the Susquehanna hosted Juniata for a Commonwealth Conference outing and handed the Eagles a 74-68 loss. It was Susquehanna's fifth straight victory over Juniata in the all-time series. In addition, the Crusaders have won 16 of the past 17 contests with Juniata. The Eagles were led by senior guard Shane Crandall (North Allegheny/Doylestown) who had 23 points. He was 12 of 14 from the foul line on the night and he also had three steals. Senior forward Dave Reddick (North Hills/Pittsburgh) posted a double-double with 13 points and a contest-best 14 rebounds to go with two steals. Sophomore forward Ben Gallagher (Butler/Butler) had 10 points, three assists and three steals before fouling out with 1:23 to play. Dave Reddick and sophomore forward Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) each posted a career high of 23 points to help lead Juniata to an 80-61 victory on the road at Villa Julie on Thursday evening. It was the second time this season that Juniata downed Villa Julie. The blue and gold hoopers knocked off Villa Julie, 87-74, back on November 17 in the first round of the Adelphia/Doc Greene Tournament. Both Reddick and Martin tallied 13 points in the first 20 minutes of action to help stake Juniata to a 35-21 lead at intermission. In addition to his 23 points, Reddick had a game-best eight rebounds and posted two steals. He was 10 of 15 from the field. Martin, whose previous personal-best was 18 points, nailed seven of 11 shots from the floor, including a four of four showing from behind the three-point line. He was also five of five from the foul line and pulled down three rebounds. Crandall and Gallagher each had nine points, four rebounds and three assists for Juniata. The Eagles hosted Elizabethtown which is ranked 12th in the latest Division III national poll, for a Commonwealth outing on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays needed overtime to get past Juniata, 92-83. The Eagles got 22 points, five rebounds and three assists from Crandall. Reddick had 15 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Sophomore guard Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) ended the contest with 15 points and four steals.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (6-8, 3-1 Commonwealth): Jan. 15 at Albright; Jan. 17 at Penn State-Altoona;

The Eagles hung a 2-0 week on the board in Commonwealth Conference during the past seven-day stretch. On Tuesday, Juniata traveled to Susquehanna and posted a 72-62 victory over the host Crusaders. The Eagles had three players finish in double figures in scoring with senior forward Brandy Preslovich (Bald Eagle Area/Moshannon) leading the way with 25 points and she also pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked two shots in a contest that Juniata out-rebounded its foe, 52-44. It was the 11th straight game that Preslovich reached double figures in scoring. Junior center Kelly Steinbeiser (Altoona/Altoona) had 11 points, eight rebounds, one rejection and one steal, while senior guard Kelli Young (United/Vintondale) posted 11 points, seven assists and four steals. On Saturday, Juniata snapped a 17-game losing streak against Elizabethtown with a 20-point win, 74-54, at home. The Eagles won for the third straight game. The last time that Juniata defeated the Blue Jays was on November 30, 1992, by a count of 84-73 in Memorial Gymnasium. Steinbeiser had six points during a 16-1 run by Juniata late in the second half to put distance between the Eagles and Elizabethtown. She scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half. Preslovich reached double figures in scoring for the 12th straight game and led all scorers with 22 points. She also pulled down 10 rebounds. Senior guard Kelly Grove (Penns Valley/Spring Mills) posted 13 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists, while Steinbeiser also had 10 rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal. Young passed out seven assists to go with five steals, two points and two rebounds.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING (3-3): Jan. 19 at Widener.
Juniata was not in action this past week, but will return to the pool for dual-meet action on January 19 when it will travel to Widener for a conference outing.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Jan. 19 at Dickinson Relays.
Juniata was not in action this past week. On this coming Saturday, the Eagles will return to competition at the Dickinson Relays.
