KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- Juniata College freshman Lindsay Cooper (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) posted her second top-six finish in as many days to highlight Eagle results at the 2008 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, which continued Saturday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Cooper finished fifth in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.71, earning 10 points for the Juniata cause. Earlier in the day, she posted the fifth-best time in the preliminaries with a time of 1:13.19, earning the slot in the Saturday night championship race. The Eagles picked up 18 points with a sixth-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the Juniata team of Rachel Gipe (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal), Kelly Serfling (Frederick, Md./Urbana), Kasey Brough (Gardners, Pa./Carlisle) and Cooper turned in a time of 2:07.52. Brough narrowly missed advancing to the Saturday night finals of the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing 14th overall in the prelims with a time of 2:10.91, while Gipe was 17th overall in the prelims of the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:11.96. After two days of competition, Juniata is seventh out of seven teams with 60 points. The Landmark meet concludes Sunday with preliminaries at 11:00 a.m. followed by finals starting at 5:00 p.m. -30-
