EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Juniata College outside hitter Matt Fritz (Churchville, Md./John Carroll) logged 14 kills while hitting .706 to lead the Eagle men's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg, in EIVA Tait Division action Saturday night at Koehler Fieldhouse in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Game scores were 30-19, 30-16, and 30-18. "We were hot right out of the gate," said Juniata head coach Jeremy Price. "We simply dominated that match." Juniata jumped out to a 12-5 lead in game one, keyed by a three-point run off the serve of Matt Werle (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), including a pair of service aces. The Eagles (10-12, 6-6 EIVA Tait) wrapped up the win in game two with seven straight points off Craig Harvey's (Beverly, Mass./St. Johns Prep) serve, with Zach Wanner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Evan Halteman (Perkiomenville, Pa./Christopher Dock) combining on a pair of blocks. Game three was also controlled by the Eagles from the outset, with Wanner serving Juniata to the first six points of the game, including three service aces. Fritz, whose effort against the Warriors was on the heels of Friday night's 17-kill performance versus Princeton, also tallied three blocks on the night. Wanner was the only other hitter in double digits with 10 kills on 17 swings, for a .353 attack percentage. Harvey finished with eight kills on 13 swings and logged five total blocks. Werle set 37 assists for the Eagle hitters, and matched Anthony Damiano (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) with three digs. For the match, Juniata totaled 12.5 blocks, including eight by Halteman, while hitting .538. East Stroudsburg was paced offensively by Chris Holden with 13 kills, followed by Mike Oswald with seven. The Warriors hit just .099 for the match, with just 31 kills and 3.5 total blocks. John Post set the ESU offense with 22 assists, while Drew Dvorsky recorded a team-high three digs. Juniata will await Monday's pairings and seedings for next weekend's Molten Division III Championship, which will take place April 11-12 at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. -30-
