ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's tennis had its hands full contending with a strong Elizabethtown College squad, eventually falling 9-0 to the Blue Jays on Monday afternoon in Elizabethtown, Pa. Eagle sophomore Amanda Fontana (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) turned in the strongest performance of the afternoon, taking the first set of her #1 singles match against E-town's Emily Swarr into a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-4). Fontana dropped the second set 6-3 for the straight-set loss. "She played a really good match out there today and fought hard," said Juniata head coach Beth Bleil. Fontana teamed up with Maggie Wolenter (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) at #1 doubles, where the pair dropped an 8-0 decision to the Blue Jays' Emma Smith and Alice Yu. Juniata (4-12, 1-4 Landmark) returns to action on Thursday, April 17, when both the Eagle men's and women's teams face Gettysburg College.
