PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Carnegie Mellon University scored four times in the opening half on its way to a 5-0 win over Juniata College, in men's soccer action Saturday night in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Tartans scored all four first half goals in a span of less than four minutes, starting with Ricky Griffin's unassisted goal in the 18th minute. CMU's Jonathan Simon found the back of the goal just 54 seconds later to put the Tartans ahead 2-0. Carnegie Mellon then scored twice in the 23rd minute to stretch the lead to 4-0, with Griffin scoring his second of the night and Keith Hasselhoff recording his first of the season.

CMU capped its scoring late in the second half, with Ryan Heuler putting the Tartans up 5-0 in the 74th minute.

Juniata's Joe Kohler (Vienna, Va./James Madison) started the game in goal and played the entire first half, allowing four goals with one save. Ted Sonneborn (Syracuse, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) came on in the second half, making a pair of stops with one goal allowed.

Tartan keepers Matthew Bazin and Maksim Khurgin split the time in goal, with Bazin recording one save and Khurgin one.

CMU outshot Juniata 21-4 over the 90 minutes, and had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Tartans were caught offsides once in the game.

Juniata will return to action this Thursday, when the Eagles host Mount Aloysius College at 4:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field in Huntingdon.
