KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- The Juniata College women's volleyball team improved its record to 16-1 on the season with a pair of wins on Saturday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., in the second of two Landmark Conference round-robin weekends.

Juniata (16-1, 5-0 Landmark) opened the day with 3-0 win over the University of Scranton, then finished up with a 3-0 win over Moravian College.

Set scores against Scranton were 25-10, 25-18, and 25-14, while the Eagles downed Moravian by 25-11, 25-22, and 25-11 scores.

Seniors Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) paced the Juniata offense in the win over the Royals with 10 kills each; Albert recorded hers on 16 swings for a .562 hitting percentage, while Thomas totaled 19 swings for a .421 clip.

Senior Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) set that offense with 23 assists to go with four digs, while Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) had 17 assists.
Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the defense with 21 digs, while Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) recorded 12 digs along with a team-high three service aces.

Against Moravian, Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) and Thomas each finished with six digs, while Amanda Schmidt (Boswell, Pa./North Star) scored points at the net with three blocks. Sollenberger turned up 11 digs, while Strauss and Kozak had 17 and 11 digs respectively.

The wins allowed Juniata to clinch the right to host the semifinals and finals of the Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Championship, on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center in Huntingdon, Pa.

Juniata will conclude conference play on Sunday when it faces the host squad from the Merchant Marine Academy.
